Saturn Sky vs. Ford Mustang
2008 Saturn Sky Overview
How do you take the amazing 2008 Saturn Sky roadster to the next level? Include a standard leather-wrapped
steering wheel, an effective stability control system, and a limited-slip differential across the board.
Available exclusively as a rear-wheel drive, two-seat convertible roadster, the Sky is available in base and
high-performance Red Line trim levels. The base model features a 173-horsepower 2.4 liter 4-cylinder engine with Variable Valve Timing, supplying
a balance of brisk acceleration and decent fuel economy. Red Line models crank up the performance with a 260-horsepower 2.0 liter turbocharged
4-cylinder that provides mind-bending thrust and instantaneous passing power. Both models come with a standard short-throw 5-speed manual
transmission for lightning-quick shifts, or an optional 5-speed automatic transmission for more leisurely cruising.
Superb handling is delivered via a limited slip differential, which provides the best possible traction under
any road condition, delivering maximum power to the drive wheel that needs it most. The high-end Bilstein® monotube shocks create a solid, yet
comfortable ride. Standard, lightweight 18" aluminum alloy wheels and performance tires complete the Sky’s sexy profile and sporting
demeanor.
Safety features include dual front airbags with the Passenger Sensing System, allowing passenger-side airbag
deactivation. The standard StabiliTrak stability control system provides increased vehicle control by controlling brake pressure and engine speed
during evasive maneuvers. Integrated projector-beam foglamps look great and provide enhanced visibility at night.
The easy-to-operate cloth convertible top is a snap to open and close, folding completely into the trunk to
maintain the sexy lines of the car. It’s also lined with sound-insulating material to reduce wind and road noise. Interior amenities include an
available 6-disc, in-dash CD/MP3 player and Monsoon 225-watt audio system with 7 speakers for a totally dynamic audio experience. Standard XM®
Satellite Radio provides dozens of commercial-free stations, while the XM® turn-by-turn navigation will help you if you ever get lost on your
journey.
One of the few pure roadsters available, the 2008 Saturn Sky is a scintillating sportscar that leaves you
wondering whether to drool or to drive.
Ford Mustang & Saturn Sky Comparison
Utility
The Mustang will most definitely prove friendlier than the Saturn Sky for those of you with frequent
child-cargo.
Dimensions
The Ford Mustang is quite a bit more ponderous than the Saturn Sky. Your wallet will hurt more every time you
fill up the Ford Mustang than the Saturn because of its larger tank. The Saturn Sky fits in smaller parking spaces than the Ford. The Ford
Mustang's longer wheelbase will result in a smoother, more stable ride; on the other hand, the Saturn Sky may give a nimbler feel in daily
traffic.
Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the
dealer. The Saturn is quite a bit cheaper to get to the dealership than the Ford. When it comes to MSRP, the Ford Mustang costs significantly
less than the Saturn Sky. In terms of purchase price, the Saturn Sky costs roughly as much as the Ford Mustang (though the Ford Mustang is
slightly cheaper).
Handling
The Saturn has significantly bigger tires than the Mustang. Keep in mind that bigger tires might look and feel
better, while narrower tires might improve gas mileage. With their similar turning radiuses, the Ford and the Saturn Sky doubtless handle about
the same into and out of tight spots.
Drivetrain
The Ford's engine is tremendously more sizeable than the Saturn Sky's. Keep in mind that more massive engines
may use more gasoline than smaller ones. The Ford Mustang has no lessons to learn in terms of pickup from the Saturn Sky.
Comfort
While the front cabin in the Ford Mustang offers a bit more head room than the Saturn Sky, there really isn't
much of a difference.

The Saturn and the Ford Mustang have the same basic after-sale protection.
